Chalk artist Jeannie Moberly from Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program and
four assistants will create a Parisian chalk mural on the walkway
leading up to the Center, celebrating the intersection of the First
Amendment and the arts. Visitors can watch as the mural is created
before their eyes, and they can even create their own chalk artwork
alongside the artists.
Moberly, a Philadelphia native, graduated from Barnard College in New
York City. She has studied the interrelationships of dance, writing,
music, drama and the visual arts, and was a student of abstract
expressionist painter Milton Resnick and sculptor Robert Arneson.
Moberly currently works as a painter, a muralist, a costumer, and an
embroiderer. Her prize winning chalk art has been featured at the
Fairmount Crawl, Please Touch Museum, and Wills Eye Hospital's Give Kids
Sight Day. For more information about Moberly's work, visit

> A teeming symbolic garden will be sprouting exuberantly as Jeannie
> Moberly uses chalk techniques to explore the artist's role in our
> society based on the first amendment. As entertainer, witness, and
> provocateur this artist brings to the pavement surface the tortuous
> pangs and blossoming joys of our complicated lives. Through bizarre
> landscape forms the artist leads us to examine the map of our
> proliferate experience.
